Locanda da Eva - Opening Summer 2010
I recently had a call from a restaurateur who was applying for a type 47, on-sale general liquor license with the California Alcoholic Beverage Control department. He called our office asking for help with the on-site survey portion of his application to fulfill the required notification to all residents living within 500′ of his restaurant.
Once we completed the work, I made the operator aware that we also handled a complete range of services for our clients, from brokering liquor licenses to state applications as well as the land entitlement filings most cities require for businesses selling alcoholic beverages called ‘conditional use permits’.
After I explained the benefits of having our firm do the nitty-gritty on his behalf, and considering the myriad steps he was handling in getting his restaurant ready to open, he was happy to have our company deal with the state liquor department.
Locanda da Eva will open early this summer in the former home of Maritime East, Zax Tavern, Mazzini Trattoria, Lucio’s, and Casa de Eva. Our daily-changing menu will be mostly Italian with occasional excursions to other Mediterranean countries, always inspired by the ever-improving quality and variety of ingredients from local farms, ranches, and dairies. In addition to an eclectic list of food-friendly wines and beers, our full bar will offer traditional Italian aperitivi and digestivi as well as original and classic artisanal cocktails. One of our employees discovered Locanda’s Facebook page which describes in great detail the million-and-one steps involved in getting a restaurant open, including his dealings with liquor license agents and the state liquor board.
So if you’re in the Berkeley area, stop in, order a wine and say hello.
